CLAY PIGEON SHOOTS

AUGUST 2005

Tower of Lebanon 169 held its first official event on Saturday 26th August 2005.

W. Bro. Bob Lennox organised a clay pigeon shoot at premisses known to him in Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim.

14 members and guests assembled in the car park of Carrickfergus Castle and travelled to the venu. Here in a large field with a small caravan the shoot was set up with each participitant having 50 cartridges at their disposa. W. Bro. david Jamison operated the Trap assisted by Bro. David Stone. Bob already a keen licenced shooter was in charge of the event and gave good instructions to the assembled shots.

It has to be said the weather was more than kind to us and the constant sunshine added to the enjoyment of the day. Some had never shot before but it wasn't long before all were at a degree of actually hitting something (in W. Bro. Cooke's case the ground!).

Following the shoot we retired to Bob's house for a well needed bar-b-que. Having refreshed ourselves the day ended everyone keen for another go! The event raised some money for Lodge funds and looks like becoming a regular. Thanks to Bob for his organisation.

FROZEN TURKEY SHOOT 2006

Following the success during the Summer months a further Shoot was organised for the same venue but leaving out the barbeque and taking place early in February 2006.

Although very cold all brought tea and sandwiches for refreshment. Again a great day out that remained dry!!
